This afternoon I drove Rob to work and then (I can say this because hopefully she doesn’t read here, since they don’t have a computer) I stopped to buy a few things to send to my mother-in-law. And since it was so nice and air-conditioned in the department store, I spent about half an hour in there just wandering around.
And then, just as I was passing the herbal weight loss products in the pharmacy section, I realized that I didn’t have my car keys with me. The skirt I’m wearing today doesn’t have pockets, so I searched through my shopping bag. Not there. I re-traced my steps, thinking I might have dropped my key ring somewhere, but to no avail.
You know where this is going, don’t you?
I went out to the van, hoping against hope that I had left the doors unlocked, but who was I kidding? I never leave the doors unlocked. And of course, OF COURSE, the keys were there, in the ignition. Now, Rob was at work, with the only other set of keys to the van. And he works half an hour away. I phoned my friend C, who was kind enough to pick me up and bring me to his work, where he gave me the keys. I got in the (not air-conditioned, had-sat-out-in-the-sun-for-an-hour-and-a-half) van and drove home.
When I got home, there was an email waiting for me from Rob. “Did you borrow my bank card today?” I answered “Yes, but I’ll bring it with me when I pick it up”.
I just received his response:
“No you won’t. You dropped it in the parking lot when you came to pick up the keys”.
Oy Vey it must be one of those weeks! Yesterday I left mine in the ATM but a very nice man found it and returned it to me (while I was searching my car in the parking lot)
I think Rob should take you to a nice dinner tonight as you have had a stressful day!
Oh my LANDS. I hope you get a big piece of chocolate cake or a backrub or SOMETHING nice tonight!! So sorry for the crap day (but I do love the Muppet photo, snort!).
Thanks ladies – Rob works til 11 pm tonight so I think the dinner will have to wait.
