Questions about things I’ve never quite understood but feel really stupid asking because I probably should know this stuff.

1) How come they changed the Olympics? It used to be that the summer and winter Olympics were in the same year. Like I remember when the ’88 Summer Olympics were in Seoul, and the ’88 WINTER Olympics were in Calgary. They were both in 1988. Why did that change?

2) What is the difference between term life insurance and regular life insurance? Is there a difference at all? I ask this because when insuring that van, the lady asked something about my life insurance and at the same time there was a commercial on TV for that insurance that old people can buy and they kept calling it term life insurance.

3) My province’s waste management division won’t let us use black garbage bags. We have to use clear ones. BUT, we could fill a clear garbage bag with black garbage bags and that’s okay? Because we have black garbage bags in the house and we’re not allowed to use them so we have to get rid of them somehow. How about if we had a full (black) garbage bag, and just put that inside a clear one? No? AND, if the entire province isn’t allowed to use black garbage bags, how come they’re still being sold in stores? I realize that this is not a question that anyone can really answer.

4) Fruit flies. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
I mean, I understand where they come from. There are fruitfly eggs on your fruit and veg., and if they’re allowed to hatch (ie if you don’t wash your fruit and veg before they hatch/don’t refrigerate stuff) then here come the nasty beasties.
But we wash EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. Because I don’t want to eat fruit fly eggs and tend to leave the peel on most produce that I eat. Plus, everything was in the fridge. So how does this happen? I used a tin of diced tomatoes in our spaghetti the other night. I forgot to rinse the tin, and left it on the counter. Twenty minutes later? FRUITFLIES! Where did they come from? There was no exposed fruit anywhere. Everything that came from the grocery store had been washed and put away. There were no fruitflies in the house until those ones showed up. Are they INSIDE CANS now (no I don’t really think that).
Luckily I know how to get rid of them fairly quickly but still they are assholes and I hate them.

Damn. These are really good questions… I have no answers – only more questions to add to your list. ;)
