  1. Good morning starshine

    May 31, 2008 by Louise

I’m not sure how the timestamps are working on my blog, but I will tell you this: As I write these words, it is 8:58 am.

I have been awake for four and a half hours.

Yeah. I’ve been up, out of bed, since 4:30 am. We are Not Amused.

Still, though, I’ve gotten quite a bit done. I went outside and weeded and watered my garden (it was super sunny at 5:30… it’s starting to cloud over now so maybe the watering was unneccessary). I’ve got two bleeding hearts to plant (hi DJ! yes I bought them because of your photos) but I can’t decide where to put them because most of my flowerbeds are in full sun… great for the sunflowers, not so great for plants whose instructions say to plant them in shade. I sent off the article, photos, and contract for a book I’m going to be in.

I’ve seen more infomercials than you can shake a stick at – I now have an incredible hankering for a Jack LaLanne juicer (because I really want to drink green pepper juice!) and maybe a Thighmaster.

    Um, nevermind.

Anyway. now it’s 9:30 and I’m feeling like maybe I should take a nap? But I’m not sure I want to? And it’s making me question everything?

  2. I have a mission for you!

    May 29, 2008 by Louise

Does anyone out there have an idea for useful (but unique) baby gifts? Three people I know are currently brewing up fetuses (fetii? no, I checked, it’s fetuses) and once the all the pushing is over, I’d like to give them something good for their efforts.
Only one of the three gestators already has kids, if that makes any difference. And I’m not like, BEST FRIENDS with any of them so nothing too extravagant (of course an open package of Wet Wipes isn’t gonna cut it either – think nice, think not-something-they’re-already-gonna-get-a-thousand-of, but also not bank-breaking).

There, have I given you enough limitations? What do you usually give at baby showers? And of course no, they have no clue what the sex of their fetus is – this is PEI, the medical system here don’t play that.

  3. so we danced on the floor in the round

    by Louise

It’s 7:40 am! Usually I am all dressed and ready to go by now! But I’m not yet, and I really, REALLY should be.

I’ve been wig-shopping on the Internet instead. I’m really hoping the one that I want goes on sale because I’m cheap but even if it doesn’t $216 is still a pretty good price.

In my travels I also saw a 32 inch LCD tv that is pretty sweet and that I’m sure if we didn’t already have one, Rob would very much be interested in purchasing.

AND I saw … another Michael Jackson video. This one’s only 5 minutes long. Dude makes some seriously long videos, usually. Anyway when I was a kid, my sister bought me and my brother a poster for our birthdays (my 7th, his 6th) that was a scene from this video I guess (him on the light-up sidewalk). I think mainly because she loved MJ and wanted his picture up in as many rooms of the house as she could manage. And for the year that the poster was up in my room, I would go change in the bathroom.

  4. “I got four guys proud of me”

    May 28, 2008 by Louise

I saw this (sorry, embedding disabled) only once, when I was 11. The full-length version, I mean. After that, well, MuchMusic isn’t going to play a 17-minutes-long video.
And you know what? It’s actually a pretty good little mini-movie, for the first nine minutes. Up until the dancing starts. If you ignore the tatooed eyeliner.
    Plus: WESLEY SNIPES

  5. Spinderella cut it up one time

    by Louise

I am watching the Salt N Pepa Show while I wait for Rob to come home. S n P are taking a tour bus somewhere and it’s really interesting, the difference between the two band members. Cheryl (Salt) is like “Okay we’re on the bus, not a big deal, I’m gonna play Scrabble and sleep” Sandy (Pepa) is… less relaxed. It’s as though she expects tour buses to be the same as las vegas hotels amenity wise. They’re going to be on the bus a total of 14 hours (I think) and she’s freaking out that there’s no shower and she doesn’t have her own room.

Sometimes I wonder about how much “reality” is actually scripted – is Sandy seriously this much of a diva? Is Cheryl really a total saint? Have I stooped to a new low, blogging about TV? Reality TV at that? Probably.

  6. Whoa

    by Louise

I had a scary moment this morning, on my way in to work. I turned a corner in my car and almost ran over a dog that was just sort of sitting in the road. I stopped, really quickly (I’m surprised I don’t have the whiplash!) and then sat there staring at this dog for a full 30 seconds while he sat there staring back at me, like “Who are you to dare driving on my road”. At first I thought he might be sick or injured, because normally, you nearly get run over, you move out of the way, no? I wasn’t sure if I should get out of my car to try and see if he was okay, plus at that point I was having a heart attack (omg almost got into a car accident!)… while I caught my breath, this older gentleman popped out of his house onto his front porch, yelled something, and the dog got up and trotted back to his house completely nonchalant.

So all’s well that ends well but my heart was beating a bit quicker through the rest of the morning.

  7. speak up!

    May 27, 2008 by Louise

    Who keeps visiting from Yarmouth?

Just wondering, because I went to school near there and have friends who still live there – is it you?
Email me or leave a comment; I’m so super curious right now.

  8. Thinking…

    by Louise

That first season of Friends was really funny. Toward the end there, things got really… bloated? Convoluted? Kind of like Elvis.

(not that that stops me from loving either – end-of-life Elvis or Friends where everyone was married and annoying)

A friend of us gave us a bottle of homemade green apple wine. Holy wow, it’s delicious.

Some people can be super dee duper insensitive to others’ needs/feelings/insecurities.

Eddie Murphy looks crazy in that Michael Jackson video he was in.

  9. *sigh*

    May 25, 2008 by Louise

It’s Sunday, and I’m having that “Oh no! Back to school tomorrow!” feeling that I’ve had every Sunday evening since I was seven.

I think it’s intensified by the fact that today has been such a gorgeous day, all clear blue skies and bright yellow sun, warm breeze, fat lazy bees buzzing around, and I spent about three hours just basking in it in the back yard, and I wish I could be doing that every day. And no matter how beautiful it is tomorrow, I will be stuck inside, not basking.

    BUT

In a month (a little over) I will be having a vacation. So that will be good.

  10. PAAAAARTY

    May 24, 2008 by Louise

Yeah, y’all know how much I love to party.

More like “Social Gathering!” … we have four or five friends coming over tonight to play crazy video games– Guitar Hero or SingStar or Rock Band or all of the above – in any case at the moment Rob is setting up and our livingroom is a spiderweb of CAT5e cables and microphones and little plastic guitars.

It has been requested that I make cinnamon rolls (people were here before when I made a batch, and they were eaten up, so I guess they want them again). Since it’s about a two-hour process I should get on that, soonish.

Nephews were here earlier. THEY wanted to play Rock Band. They are 4 and 2. It… kind of didn’t work all *that* well, but it worked (especially when Rob was “helping” them).
