Rob got it for me last summer. I love it, and wear it fairly often.
I’ve lost a pound or two lately, nothing huge, but I guess it’s had some kind of effect on my fingers. Earlier today I was in the bathroom, finished up, flushed, and realized that my ring had fallen off, into the toilet, and was on its way down the drain.
There’s no way I would ever reach into a junior high school toilet, so that ring is gone now. I’m pretty sad and annoyed about the whole thing. Can probably find another, similar one somewhere, but still.
Have you ever accidentally flushed something (besides the obvious) that was valuable to you?
Not particularly valuable, except for the entertainment value of the story:
At our old apartment in CO, we had a teeny tiny bathroom, and so we had one of those shelving things that fit over the top of the toilet, which is where I kept my face stuff. I had just gotten my first shipment of ProAtive, which my mother was providing in the vain hopes I wouldnt mess up
myher wedding pictures by having the bride be all zitty.I stood up, flushed, grabbed toothbrush and…somehow managed to hit the proactive stuff JUST RIGHT to knock down the little “freebie” of facial mask into the flushing toilet.
Where it disappeared completely.
There I stand, toothbrush in mouth, staring in amazement as a tube I was positive wouldnt even be able to negotiate the first bend in the pipes was swallowed by the toilet without even a burp.
Aw…
that totally sucks. I’ve never accidentally flushed anything but if I did? I’d totally freak.
You may want to have the janitor look at that particular toilet. A lot of stuff like that gets flushed but the water may not get it up over the “s-curve” in there. There’s a good chance that the water is whoosing right through it and not moving it anywhere, though far enough up so that you can’t see it.
If it is indeed still in there, you may want to boil it or stick in the science room’s autoclave (if they have one) to sanitize the hell out of it (I almost said “the crap” out of it, but saw the pun in time).
