Seriously.
Not that I don’t love weekends, because I do. They just sort of mess me up for the rest of the week.
In a perfect world, I would sleep about 9 hours a night, let’s say from 10pm – 7 am, then have a nap at around noon-ish, until, oh, 2 pm. Yes, you read that right. That’s 11 hours out of every 24 that I would spend sleeping. I don’t mind that at all.
In this world, however, I get, oh, 7 hours, 8 if I’m lucky, of sleep every weeknight. No naps.
Thus, on weekends, my body becomes a sleep glutton. This weekend for example, on Friday night, I fell asleep at around 10. And woke up at noon Saturday.
(Saturday was actually a pretty fun day although it was a blizzard; we went to Rob’s work Holiday party. The party itself was held at a venue that’s about 5 minutes from our house but after we picked up the other friends who were coming with and then drove through the frickin horrible weather it took like an hour to get there. Then after we ate our half-cold turkey dinner and Rob won a door prize, the people we were there with went and got our coats so we left. I mean, what was I supposed to do, insist on staying? So all in all we were there for an hour and a half. Wow this is a long parenthesis and also I sound bitter. I’m not.)
Last night I went to sleep around midnight… woke up at 2 pm today. With a little wake up at 9 am when I totally could have gotten out of bed but Rob said “no, stay and snuggle!” and so I did because snuggling is one of my favourite activities.
The sleeping. It’s all fabulous and wonderful. I’m fully refreshed. So refreshed, in fact, that it’s currently 11:33 pm on Sunday night, and I am 100% awake.
I think I never got back into “normal” sleeping mode after the summer. That coupled with changes I’m making with my meds has just completely messed up my internal clock. You can bet your sweet bippy (what’s a bippy, anyway? does everyone have one? is it always sweet?) that tomorrow morning I’ll be dragging ass and tired as anything, wishing I could drag a nice foam mattress out of my storage closet and have a little nap under my desk.
But I’ll get it all evened out by, oh, Wednesday. PLUS, only 3 weeks til Christmas break, and slumber will be my sweet companion once again.
