I made this, this evening:
I’m by no means an expert seamstress (I never even had home ec in school! I felt so gypped…) but I read the sewing machine manual and this is what you get. Can you tell that it’s a purse?
Sure, not something I personally would carry (me? actually carry a purse? maybe sometimes, but not lately). It’s for my niece. She turns 13 on Christmas day, and I think she’ll enjoy it.
All in all, it only took me about an hour to make up (sewing that stupid flap on is the most difficult part, to be honest) and I must say that ‘invisible’ (read: plastic) thread is pretty dang forgiving. I don’t like the strap, but I couldn’t figure out what else to do with it (plus, that’s how the threadheads said to do it). $3 for the jeans, 50 cents for the belt, all at Frenchy’s… not too shabby.
Wow! I’m impressed! I took Home Ec because I had to but I completely suck at sewing. I don’t have the patience for it.
It’s adorable. But since it’s for a 13-yr-old, I would suggest some sparkly rivets or something, somewhere. Yes?
