I used to be quite critical and now I find I’m cynical

Jobs. Which ones have you had? What are the things you’ve done for money?

My list, in no particular order (although I’m sure I’ll come up with more):

- babysitting
- retail (store clerk and later, cashier)
- tutoring (in high school)
- knitting (I have knitted things for others and they have paid me for it)
- market research (okay so basically three or four times in university I was paid $20 to give my opinion on commercials. it was still a way of making money)
- library clerk (through university I worked evenings/ weekends at the uni. library and during the summers I worked at the local libraries here)
- summer reading club coordinator
- literacy tutor
- hotel front desk clerk and night auditor
- professional typist (not really but again, back in university, people would pay me $2/ page to type up their papers. Kept me in bar money)
- teacher
- cleaner

… okay, so that is all I can think of right now. How about you?

(post title comes from a song of my teenage years, “Things I Do For Money” by the inimitable Northern Pikes). Here’s the video:

What we do for $$… I have done babysitting, house painting, retail (glorified stock girl), typing papers, tutoring (computers, math, and GED exam prep), a caregiver for 2 elderly women, factory work, web design, desktop publishing/graphic arts, and fixing computers.
