Bitten

September 22, 2007 by Louise

I have to admit that I’m a homebody. Not quite a hermit, but given the choice between a night on the town or a night in, nine times out of ten I would choose to stay home. I don’t know where that comes from really. Maybe the fact that we moved so much when I was younger makes me happy to stay put. Maybe I’m just antisocial. Who knows?

Yet, now and then, the travel bug sort of starts nipping at me. Sure, I’ve been everywhere in Canada, and Canada is fantastic, but I’ve never been anywhere else in the world. Rob’s at least been to “France”. Me? Nope. Nowhere.

I would love to travel. I don’t mean caribbean cruises or all-inclusive resorts (although I’m sure those would be really nice, too). I mean actually visiting a place, exploring, eating where the locals eat (actually, the locals probably eat at their own houses. So maybe not exactly, unless locals decide they want a couple of Canadians in their kitchens), but not going to all the touristy places, because that’s not the kind of thing that interests me.

I have a list of places I’d like to visit. And one day, hopefully, all the place names will be crossed off my list. For tonight, though, I am very, very happy to be at home, reading one of the new books we picked up today.

What “places to see” are on your list?

I’m kind of a homebody as well but I love traveling – it’s just so cool to see places that are so different from where I live. I’m not too much into the typical “touristy” type places either.

In the last 3 years I’ve been to some pretty amazing places but I still have a list which is a little long to publish here in your comments. But it does include the last 10 States I have yet to see.

I’d love to go back to PEI (as you know) – there’s still another third of the island I haven’t explored yet…
