Yesterday afternoon, I wanted to come on line and feed my addiction check on some things I?ve been looking at on Etsy. Tried. The lappy told me it couldn?t connect to the Internet. Of course I hollered for Rob ? I can 100% tell you that I don?t know how to fix the computer. There was once a time when I could bungle along fairly well, but nowadays, with all the newfangled programming and um? fire?wires and? computer things? Basically the only thing I know how to do is restart. Anyway. Rob came along. He tried connecting to the Internet. That didn?t work. He did some things to the wireless router. Didn?t work. He went to the actual ?real? computer and fiddled with that. Nope, nothing. Finally a phone call was made to the phone company, who had Rob re-do all the things he had just done, to no avail. Their conclusion? Something is wrong. The earliest they can send a tech to see what that might be? Monday, maybe Tuesday.
FINE.
People, I am now writing to you from the depths of Dialup. DIALUP. Has dialup always been this slow? I don?t think it was always this slow. I remember using dialup for quite awhile, and it being fine. So? how come in the time it took for me to log on here, I was able to go and cook a pot of oatmeal (no lie) ? This is not a good thing. Not a good thing at all.
(also I have just now realized how much of a hold the Internet actually has on me?SIX TIMES yesterday alone I found myself in need of information ? a recipe, a knitting pattern, a phone number?and automatically thought ?I?ll look it up online?. Woe! Woe is me!)
(AND! THE BIGGEST SLAP IN THE FACE! I can?t watch my Big Brother live feeds with dialup! LIFE IS SO UNFAIR! (/drama))
It’s amazing how we didn’t mind dial up when Al Gore first invented the interweb… but now? Omg.
Sorry about the live feeds though – that sucks.
