It’s YouTube … Thursday!
Today is my father’s 60th birthday. Seeing that number is amazing to me because I always thought 60 was old, and my parents are not old. So I guess what they say is true; age doesn’t matter unless you’re cheese.
Anyway. Rob is very sick (right now he’s on the couch, drunk (DRUNK!) on cough syrup, still coughing, but much happier about it) so he stayed home. I brought Dad his gift and card. Then he and I went and planted the peony bush that Mom got for him (my dad takes after his dad, who loved gardening; Grandpa managed to coax vegetables and roses to grow in the mostly-coal, rocky soil of their backyard), ate an ice cream, helped Mom tease the cat, and listened to my niece’s very original rendition of Happy Birthday.
Now, back to the reason I started this post (aside from Da’s birthday).
During the drive home I kept flipping radio stations, hoping to listen to something other than Nickelback. And finally the dial landed on this song:
It brought back all kinds of memories of being 11 and just ‘getting into’ music, really listening to lyrics and such. Anyway. I loved it. In the car this evening I sang along as loud as I could.
Plus, Merle’s doing a fancy little dance in the video.
EDIT: Okay I have to add a few more Pikes songs, because I love them so.
