Flip That Toilet

Flip That Toilet

No don’t!

This is a post about our bathroom. I love our bathroom. It’s tiny, because our house is 50 years old, and it comes with really kind of… interesting brown-beige-sand coloured tile which is on 3/4 of the walls.

Since we rent the house, we can’t do anything drastic, such as, oh, tearing off those consarned tiles. But the fact that every wall in the entire house is WHITE is giving me SARS. So Rob has approved me doing a little Bathroom Renovation. Which would consist of… well, painting the four square feet of non-tiled wall. Putting up a shelf. And MAYBE changing the light fixture. Photos are in the extended entry.

Here’s our loo — I took this photo while standing in the tub! I’m a professional.

Here’s some of the “artwork” (aka Things I’ve Framed That I Find Interesting or Things I Found That Cost Less Than $3) that I’d like to keep in there:

Here’s a thing that Meg had done for an Illustration Friday once and I fell so in love with it that I printed it out just because I wanted it so badly (Meg if you have the original I will gladly pay you for it) and I would like to hang it in there too because I have the perfect spot for it:

Then there are the paint colours. I don’t muck about with the “Oh a dark colour will make the room look smaller” business. I don’t care. If the room looks tiny, well, then I must also be tiny, because I actually fit inside a tiny room. That’s how I see it. Anyway. These are three colours that I absolutely adore and want to use. At least one of the three. My problem being that I’m colour-ridiculous. I can’t tell if things match or look nice together or what. It’s a curse in my family. If we didn’t just buy whatever the mannequin was wearing, we’d all be dressed like Dr. Green in Revenge of the Nerds.

Anyway. Here are the three colours. If you have suggestions or instant “ALERT ALERT LOUISE THAT COLOUR WILL MAKE YOUR HOUSE TURN INTO A GIANT MANEATING ROBOT HOUSE” type warnings, go to it!

(my mom’s suggestion: paint the bathroom yellow, and put a wallpaper border up near the ceiling. See? I told you).

***EdIT*** I realize that the photos are all wonky, and I don’t know how to fix it at the moment and don’t have time. When Rob gets a minute he’s going to look into that. Promise. Or not.
