Okay, maybe not today…

Okay, maybe not today…

Let’s try Friday for the new car (certain Circumstances preclude me and the money being at the dealer’s at the same time before Friday afternoon). Still excited! Even though my parents (yes I’m 29, yes I still listen to my parents), after having said it was a good car and I should buy it so I went and put a $500 deposit on it so I can’t change my mind NOW people are now sending me all these cut-and-paste bad reviews from IboughtALemon.com or someplace like that.

But whatever! New car! Well, new 1998 car! From France!

Not from France, not really. I got a little carried away there.

Also? And yeah, this should have come first– Today my mother is going in for surgery. A few years back (Feb. 2001, actually), she fell off the front step at 6 in the morning and broke her leg really badly. They had to operate and they put in some metal screws and a metal rod. Thing is, she’s allergic to metal (yes even surgical steel– I’ve seen her blister up from holding a pair of scissors for too long) and those things have been really bothering her ever since. Her leg’s been in constant pain (she says it ‘itches from the inside’, which must be just a HORRIBLE feeling) since 2001, so today she’s going in to have the metal stuff removed. It’s supposed to be just day surgery; she’ll be home this afternoon and should be her normal crotchety self by tomorrow, but still, everyone send out your good vibes today, huh?

  1. I can’t imagine how that must have been for your mom for the last 5 years! Crap!
I hope everything goes perfectly today.

  2. Here I am, a few days after the fact, and I hope she’s feeling much better without the metal. I don’t know very many people who are allergic to metal, as I am. So I can’t imagine having that itching from the INSIDE! Ugh. *waves to R.M. even though she doesn’t read this blog* (Just tell her I say hi.)
