Okay, more weddingy stuff (I’m allowed to think about it now– since we’re getting married on Aug. 19, 2006, well, I’m close to a year away from it, so it’s not like January when I was like “THERE’S A TON OF TIME! WHY AM I PLANNING NOW?”).
Well, really I need a bunch of opinions. Some of them have nothing to do with the wedding, more to do with my health, but I thought I’d put them in here because… uhm… I’m posting finally and might not again for a long time so I might as well put in everything I’m thinking of?
EDITED TO ADD: THERE ARE A BUNCH OF PHOTOS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST. THEY KIND OF BREAK THE BLOG. I DON’T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT AND ROB ISN’T ALLOWED TO SEE SO YOU WILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT.
So, in the

1) Weight Watchers: online or go-to-the-meetings?
If you’ve experienced either, please let me know what happened with that.
2) Curves: Yea or nay? (there’s no other gym around aside from this one which has only weights and no other equipment and all the people in there are like…. well, very intimidating. Wait, they have a sit-up machine and one treadmill, too).
If you’ve been a member, let me know how that worked out for you, too. Yes I know about the whole politics/abortion thing with Curves and at this moment I’m putting that out of my mind.

Wedding favors:
I’ve had two ideas going around in my mind.
1) Soaps (actually this idea only came along yesterday when I was poking around on eBay). Except how expensive would it be to make my own? And how the heck do I make my own? Because I don’t want to buy them in a store (I’m cheap, remember?). Anyone out there who ever makes soaps? You’re on. What’s the 4-1-1?
2) Fortune cookies (this idea has been rolling around the old cranium for awhile now). I have a recipe for making fortune cookies, both chocolate and vanilla. I’ve used it before, it’s a great recipe, and you get to put your own fortunes in. In our case it would be quotes about love or something. What think you of this? My only thing is… what to put them in? I’m not just gonna leave naked fortune cookies around. Someone might sneeze on them. WHICH IS GROSS.
Below the mark is stuff that Mr. Rob is NOT ALLOWED TO SEE! Rob if you go dogs will bite you. RIGHT ON YOUR ASS!
And on your penis! Which would make you die! Nine times! So don’t go!
Here are dress options. These are all dresses that I’m HOPING will be featured in my wedding.
For my niece, who will be 11 at the time of the wedding, I’m hoping to get this:

(yes, I’m paying for her dress, which irks me a little because I have issues which I would gladly discuss but they’re boring but this is not my niece’s fault and I really want her in the wedding and she really wants to be in it so whatever plus she “LOOOOOOOOOOOVES” (her words) the dress even if she thinks it’s “a bit poofy”)
Of course my niece getting that dress totally depends on my maid of honour (MATRON of honour, please excuse me) getting this dress:

Which, when she saw it the other day, she got all excited about it and was like “I want this dress!” so that’s great if she likes it. I’ve basically told her she can wear what she wants, so if she doesn’t like that one, she doesn’t like it. Whatever.
But I do think it would kind of “go” very well with the dress I’ve chosen for myself:

My huge main fear is that it’s sleeveless. And I hate my arms. I have scars all over them, and plus they’re jiggly. I suppose maybe they could put some sleeves on them or something for me. Or maybe I’ll just say “fuckit” about the jiggly scars and just be happy that I’m getting married that day. We shall see.
Okay, that’s it. Rob if you’re reading this then that means there is a dog getting ready to bite you on your penis! Right now! And I’m not even gonna try and stop it!
God, I feel gay for being here. Best wishes.
Hi Louise! Love the dresses, especially the one for you. Its quite lovely and I love the blue detail. LOVE blue. Think they’ll go together beautifully. Been reading your blog a while now. Hope you don’t mind. Just thought I’d say Hi this time. btw, I had similar shade of blue for my maid of honour at my wedding, so, yeah… *smiles* Well that’s it for now. Good luck. M.
The dresses are gorgeous! almost makes me want to get married myself (not really! but the dresses do look great!) WW meetings are da bomb and are most of the reason I lost 22 pounds on WW last year. if you can, definitely go to the meetings. the support you get there, along with information, etc, is invaluable. i go to Cory Everson’s and haven’t tried Curves, but know people who have and they swear by it.
I just came by cruisin’ for Capslock. Beautiful dress! Hope your wedding, and your life together comes off without a hitch. Well, you have to get hitched, then no more hitches after that. Ok. Rambling. Take care. Bye!
The dresses that you picked out are lovely.
And, oddly enough, spaghetti straps and strapless are both flattering for girls who are bigger on top. I know this because, 1. I read it in a wedding magazine and 2. I’m a girl who is bigger on top and it was flattering on me.
And keep in mind, people don’t scrutinize us the way we scrutinize ourselves.
Lovely dresses, all!
I love the wedding posts!! I’ve made soap (glycerin is EASY…microwave and set)…get supplies at an art store (Michaels or such). I think it costs
Ok so my mom’s message board is full of ladies that have tried lots of different weight loss stuff. I posted your question there and my friend Carrie answered:
“I don’t know what WW online pricing is like, but it is horribly expensive to go in person. In Canada it is between $14 or $18 per week. If it is just support or meetings she is looking for there are considerably cheaper support groups & meetings around. If it is the WW points system she wants to follow, you can buy it for cheap on ebay. If she is the type of person who needs to be told what to eat, how much to eat, what types of foods to eat then the ww system can work for her. Other groups will allow a person to use the ww system but join their meetings. If she’s looking to do a story on whether 1 works better than the other, I can’t help.lol “
Re issues with sleeveless: Why don’t you knit a shrug? (I don’t know if Rob will decide if Comment reading is against the rules as well, so I won’t say anything more.)
I suck at reading blogs, but for the WW, I do the whole online thing. Meetings are great, but if you have been to them before, they are basically the same thing all of the time.
