Feh. You go to sleep and what happens?
Waaaay outbid on the wedding stuff.
Oh well, I just have to keep repeating to myself “I’ve got a year, I’ve got a year”.

So I have been trying to save money on some objects for our wedding. In doing so, I’m begging, borrowing, stealing things from friends and family (okay, not stealing so much, but I’ve put it out there that if anyone has any of those fake-pearl Christmas garlands lying around, and some white xmas tree lights, we wouldn’t mind borrowing them. Please don’t think tackiness first thing, people, I have IDEAS here). Firebrand has been a total dear and has been helping me procure some of my bridesmaids’ gifts. Meg is going to work some of her artistic magic to help out, as well. My sister and mother are going to help me to make my wedding dress, my maid of honor and I finally got a chance to talk and she’s like “Lady, you know I’m a whiz with a couple of scraps of fabric and a glue gun”, so decorating ought to be fun. One friend has offered to help us brainstorm some ideas, and another has offered to speak to a friend of his who plays guitar just in case. This isn’t to say that we have everything completely worked out, because we so totally don’t. It’s just nice for me to stick a list there and look at it and say “Hey, list? Look! Look at all the stuff that’s sort of semi-accomplished!”
At the same time, I don’t want to bother people with “Help me with my wedding! Because you have nothing better to do! MY WEDDING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD!!!” because I really really don’t feel that way.
Anyway. Want to see two things that I’m bidding on? For the wedding? That I totally can’t go above $30 for because that would just be crazy? But I really want them so I hope that the people bidding against me fall over before they can get to their computers again? Okay yeah, you know you do. So, here we go:
Item the first. Moonstone is my birthstone. It’s also just my favourite of all the stones out there, really. So I think this would be a cool headpiece to have and to perhaps attach a veil to (maybe not, you never know).
Item the second. Moonstone again, plus peridot and blue topaz, which, Rob’s birthstone is peridot. Plus, I’m giving peridot and blue topaz jewelry to my bridesmaids because our wedding colours are blue and green.
So voila! Keep your fingers crossed for me (username neffie, don’t ask why, it just is), that nothing goes above $30. If it does, ALL IS LOST!

With millions of apologies to Fate, I totally forgot to do HER meme which she tagged me for.

I know that most people do this meme on Fridays but guess what? I want to do it today. So I set ITunes on “random” and am going to tell you the first 10 songs that came up. I’m changing it a bit though — a la Dawn, I’m going to give you a bit of the lyrics, and you can try to figure out what song it is. Oh, and the artist, too.
I KNOW that no one’s really gonna participate in this one but it’s fun for me right now. So anyway, I guess on Sunday or so I’ll let you know what the songs were. And if someone does get all the songs, maybe I’ll have a prize waiting for you. Ooooohh, prizes…
Also– Googling? That’s kind of tricky of you. So TRY NOT TO (I swear, most of these songs are super-easy if you listen to anything other than Britney Spears 24/7).

Did you know that May 17th is Norway’s centennial day?
Today shall heretofore be known as Norway Day.
Here are my favourite Norwegians in honour of Norway Day (well not all, as I’m sure Erika would be sad if I didn’t mention her personal Norwegian here but I don’t think I have a picture of him):

And now for the fun!
I have been having very bizarre and vivid dreams lately. I have always been a big dreamer=- I have always been able to remember my dreams– but lately they’ve been insanely vivid and detailed. They also often feature celebrities and TV shows, which makes them extra entertaining for me. After having described the latest beauty to Rob he insisted that I blog about it.
Here we go, then:
In my dream, Rob and I were living in a house together (I had the impression that we were married), and happy, and everything. His best friend, Johnny Depp, was also living with us, because he had nowhere else to stay– he had no other friends. Sure he was a famous rich actor but nobody else wanted to have him living anywhere near them for some reason.
I don’t blame everybody, honestly, because in my dream? Johnny was pretty much a pain in the ass. He would come into our room at night and be like “Psst! Guys! Wanna play Monopoly?” “No Johnny Depp, go away, we are sleeping!” He’d invite Rob for ‘sleep-overs’ because he had bunk beds in his room but I would be like “No! No, Johnny Depp! GO SLEEP IN YOUR ROOM ALL BY YOURSELF! NO MORE OF THIS!”. But aside from that we liked Johnny alot. He would wash dishes and vacuum and drew nice pictures and get us into the movies for free.
One day, in my dream, I came out into the livingroom and asked my sister “So, have you seen Johnny lately?” and she said “Oh, I forgot to tell you, he called the other day to leave a message saying that he had a heart attack. He’s at the hospital”. Apparently my sister just appears in my home at random times in my dreams without me thinking anything’s amiss. Also, in my dreams, our best friend and roommate Johnny Depp doesn’t show up at home and we don’t notice for days on end.
Rob and I high-tailed it to the hospital where Johnny was safely ensconced in his bed, but he had bad news for us. Apparently he had been doing some clandestine knitting for Stephen King who used the finished works (knitted tubes that would stretch to fit over things, any size, from baseballs to houses, then be set on fire, but the thing they were stretched over wouldn’t burn, they would only LOOK like they were burning, really the TUBES were burning and the stuff inside was safe and sound) not only in his movies (which is what Johnny Depp had been under the impression that they were for) but also to set things aflame in the mall, then everyone would evacuate the building thinking it was a real fire, and Stephen King would rob all the stores.
When Johnny found out about it he decided he was going to tell on Stephen King but somehow Stephen King’s evil minions found out and kidnapped Johnny, brought him to a new place (the dream was a bit fuzzy on this detail), glued his hands and feet to a bunkbed, and then knocked him out. When he came to, he ripped his hands and feet from the bunkbed (except the wood stayed glued to his hands and feet so he had to walk around that way) and escaped, wearing only his underpants which greatly embarassed him, and made his way to the nearest muffler shop, where the man gave him a ride to the hospital and he’d been there ever since.
We (Rob Johnny Depp and I) ended up having to go into the Witness Protection Program and were relocated to England where we were quite happy except that we missed our cat (which we’d had to leave behind) so we got some DNA from our cat (Johnny had it with him– at this point, I’m not questioning anything) and had a new cat made that was just like our old cat, Salamandre. Except Salamandre the Second would occasionally become a dog. But mostly he was a cat. And when we were in England my new witness protection name was Cecelia and Rob was Arturo and Johnny Depp was Johnny Depp and was still a famous and rich actor, except no one really noticed that he was JOHNNY DEPP THE FAMOUS ACTOR and Stephen King didn’t send anyone mean after us.
The End.

I’ve been downloading music lately– I want to put some songs up on here but have never been able to figure out how. Rob knows how, but he’s not here.
After I dropped Rob off at work today, I went to pick up a few groceries. I totally enjoy grocery shopping. It’s fun for me to find things that are good but don’t cost alot. Whatever. I did have a problem with shopping, today, however. I know I’m one of those people who is always telling others not to focus on looks and to think about the inner self, not the outer appearance, right? But holy crap, I’m vain. I didn’t wear my wig today– we were late in leaving and I washed the Hair Hat last night– and for the first time ever I left the house without putting my eyebrows on.
Uh.
Oh.
I honestly don’t like being hairless and eyebrowless because I don’t want people to think I have cancer. I have lost my hair, sure– but I haven’t gone through anything life-threatening or nearly as painful as those brave people have. So even though I go out without my wig, I always make sure to have my eyebrows on (it sounds as though I’m wearing little eyebrow wigs which… no, although it sounds like fun) . Except for today– and there was a huge difference between even going out wigless WITH eyebrows. I didn’t go in thinking anything would happen vaguely resembling what did. People actually stopped in their paths to stare at me. They looked at what was in my cart (yeah, I was buying pop for Rob because of his addiction to cola), then back at me with sort of indignant looks on their faces. Others would look at me, stare, then quickly dart their eyes away.
Not one person smiled or spoke to me. Not even the cashier.
So yeah, that was weird. By the end of it I actually felt guilty for not having hair. I don’t have anything else really to say about it — it was a new experience and not one I enjoyed.

This weekend has been going swimmingly and I feel so nice right now! Yay!
It started yesterday, when Rob called me at about five o’clock and said “Come and pick me up, and wear some lipstick or something”. He was released from work early, so I went and picked him up, and then we went to Chapters, where I spent $9 and got three books– two cookbooks (I love cookbooks! I read them for fun. Don’t mock me) and a figure magazine. I love me some fat-lady magazines. I love looking at the clothes and seeing them on a size-10 model instead of a size-0 model. I love pretending there are actually fat lady stores around that have nice clothes that don’t expect me to pay $80 for a pair of jeans. I just like pretending I’m rich, okay?
And then, when we got home, we checked the mail. Lo and behold, there was a package waiting for me! From my darling mainja, who had sent me the book that my therapist wants me reading but I couldn’t find it anywhere around here, plus a most beautiful copy of The Little Prince which has been on my list of favourites since I was very small, but I’ve never owned my own, and I’ve never read it in English, so this has been an extra-special treat. I actually started squealing. Anyone who hasn’t been reading mainja’s blog really should. My adoration rains down upon her. Seriously, in a huge way.
