  1. I have a beautiful 7 (almost 8) year old nephew that I think the world of. For a few years now I’ve had some questions about his future preferences. In my mind, it doesn’t matter one bit whether he ends up straight, or gay, bisexual or trysexual…he’s still going to be the same person and I’m still going to love him to pieces. For the life of me I can’t wrap my head around the prejudice some people feel they need to harbor against others based on their personal choice in bedroom partner. As far as I’m concerned, if D is gay, I get two nephews for the price of one…what’s the possible harm in that?

It makes me so incredibly sad that people are made to feel ashamed to be who they are although, unfortunately, sexuality isn’t the only matter to which this pertains. What upsets me more, however, is that these small minded individuals drill these prejudices into the heads of their innocent children. If you are taught something is bad or wrong from early childhood on, it is so incredibly hard to overcome those early lessons, even if in your heart you know these beliefs are flawed.

I?Äôm glad there are still people out there willing to teach their kids tolerance :)
