More “photos”…
December 3, 2004 by Louise
I managed to get a couple more pictures with the webcam, not that they’re that much better than the first…
This first one is pretty self-explanatory but for those who are wondering, Emilio was all up on my shoulder. At one point he was trying to eat my hair. I was smiling at my mom (she likes to talk on MSN)

This second one? My lovely sister got here (she’s here visiting a friend for the weekend and they dropped in to see me) and went on MSN to talk to my mom. I was leaning over her shoulder to read something mom said, which, apparently, was pretty funny.

I figured out why you can’t really see the wig in any of these pics– behind me leaning against the wall is a giant black piece of coroplast (we’re going to be making a new cage bottom for Emilio Estevez and Judd Nelson) so my hair is blending right in. But still.

Home again home again jiggety jig

Adventures abounded during my parents’ visit; one of them being that I was terrified to do anything close to blogging for fear that they’d FIND MY BLOG and READ IT!
I mean, they know I have a blog, and they haven’t asked to read it or anything; and there’s nothing really on here that I wouldn’t want them to know, but it’s hard to be ‘free’ when you know that your parents (or sister) are reading your blog. Weird, I know.Anyway. First adventure: My parents decided to give Rob and I our gift from them a bit early, so now we are the proud owners (?) of a membership to costco. The place is literally around the corner from my house, and in the three days that my parents were there, I went there five times. It’s true, I counted (twice). First time with my parents, to get my membership, while Rob was at work. Then we went in and looked around, but bought nothing. Next time with my mom and Rob, to pick up a pizza that Mam and Dad had seen but didn’t buy three hours earlier when we’d been there.
The next day my father, Rob, and I went to look around again. And then yesterday morning, we all four of us went, so that my parents could buy stuff (apparently meat is much cheaper and of better quality than wherever they’ve been shopping) before going back to PEI. Then later in the evening, Rob and I went and did *our* shopping (and also got him his membership card). Five times. In three days. Yeah.
It’s a great place though and if anyone out there who’s in the Halifax area feels a need to go to Costco but doesn’t have a membership, I’m allowed to take three guests with me. Let me know. What else? Oh, yes, the purpose of my parents’ visit. Mam’s allergy testing went… well, it went. She was being tested for allergies to freezing agents (like for when you get stitches or get dental work), since she’s had a lot of trouble with that stuff before. So, the first thing they did was rule out any anaesthetic with lidocaine, because they know for sure already that she’s allergic to that. That left four others that they could test on her. So they first did a scratch test with those four. She reacted to one of them. Then they did a below-the-skin test with the three remaining ones. She reacted to two of those ones. That left her with one which she hadn’t reacted to yet, so they actually injected her with it to see what would happen… and five minutes after they injected her she started itching all over, getting blotchy, and having trouble breathing. They treated her for that (it was scary– Dad and I were sitting in the waiting room thinking ‘uh oh’ but the doctor was great and came out and assured us that she was going to be fine and it wasn’t like the last time this happened when she’d gone to get stitches then ended up staying overnight because her throat had closed off).
So the results there are pretty much that from now on, if she wants to get dental work (which she does; it’s the reason her doctor sent her to get this testing) they are going to have to put her fully to sleep. That kind of sucks, but it’s better than doing it with no freezing whatsoever methinks. We came home and the doctor had given her like six Benadryl so she pretty much slept all evening and night. That was on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, Rob and Mam stayed at the apartment so that he could show her all the ins and outs of their new (our old) computer. Dad and I went and did some wig shopping. They didn’t have any that were exactly like the one I already have, which was a bit disappointing, but since I really needed a new one I found a couple that were okay. They’re way darker than what I’m used to wearing, though so it’s a bit of a shock when I see myself in the mirror. Yeah, I bought two, because a girl just can’t have enough fake hair. Me and Dolly Parton, partners in crime. Anyway I tried to take some pictures with the webcam, because once again I’m out of batteries for the digital camera, but they didn’t turn out all that well… see for yourself and if you laugh I’ll bean ya.
