Okay goodnight. I mean it.

Okay goodnight. I mean it.

I’ve been awake for EVER. FOREVER!!!!

Okay not really. Last night, we watched Stephen King’s “IT”, which of course meant I was awake until 5:30 am. Then I woke up “early” (9:00) to go and work on Rob’s Super Secret Awesome Gift.

Oh, and since I’ve given it to him, I can tell you what it was:

I asked Rob’s mother to send me some pictures of his family/friends, etc., for me to make an album with. She did more than her part– she sent 85 photos, some 60 years old, and five pages of annotation, telling me who was in each photo and what was happening.

So I dragged myself around this morning looking for a Kodak Image Maker. I actually found three… except of the first two, one was broken, and the other had run out of paper. The third was working, and I was happy. I got to work scanning and cropping and reducing red-eye, and then when I was at my 25th photo, this mother and daughter came in with “just a few” photos to scan. Since I had 60 photos left, I told them I would print off what I had scanned in, they could do their photos, and then I’d start again. Twenty minutes later, they were still trying to figure out the machine. They had the photo technician over to see them more often than not because they couldn’t figure out what they were doing. And THEN! In the MIDDLE OF IT ALL! The damn machine ran out of paper. We had to wait 10 minutes for the photo tech to not be busy. Then it took the guy 45 minutes to figure out how to change the paper. Then it took another 10 minutes for the machine thinger to be ready to work again.

Anyway. The mother and daughter took another hour working on their pictures (their “just a few” turned out to be 35, but hey, I still had more than they did and they were leaving for somewhere that evening and NEEDED THEM DONE so). During all this I phoned Rob, trying to not give up my secret, and asking him to please please start some packing or whatever. Which he did. Because he is awesome.

Okay so. I started with the photos at 9:45. I got out of there at 2:15. That’s what, four hours? But I don’t care because the photos turned out AWESOME. Of course by then I was tired and hungry and grumpy and knew that putting things into the album would be horribly long and difficult and I’d probably cry and I NEEDED TO PACK! so I packaged up the album, the photo corners, and the pictures, and gave them to Rob like that. We decided that we can put the albums together on the ferry tomorrow night, or at his parents’ house because I’m sure his mother would love to help out with that. And I’m pretty sure he liked that gift even though it wasn’t anything he asked for.

Hmm. After that I went and got my drivers’ license renewed. Turns out I’ve been driving around since June with an expired license. I didn’t realize that until the other night. We bought a carrying case for Emilio Estevez. We went out to supper at the chinese buffet place and it was good. Too good. When we were done I thought I was going to die. We went to Chapters. We came home and did laundry and I took a long bath and then just now we went out and bought food for the trip. Now it’s midnight. And this time I really AM going to bed. So good night. Look for audio posts… tomorrow or whenever. And of course read Sheri’s guest posts. And bye now! Bye bye!

Oh wait!
